Information
Basket fans are great for moving air within buildings. Typically they are used to circulate air in large buildings such as factories, livestock sheds, warehouses and swimming pools.
There are two aspects to these fans - there is the air that they move directly, in other words, through the blades, and there is the air that they move indirectly, in other words, the air that is moved by the frictional effect of the direct air flow on the adjacent air. This secondary airflow that is caused by basket fans is sometimes called induced airflow.
To generate cooling ventilation in buildings, basket fans are typically arranged for horizontal airflow with the direct airflow jet moving above the heads of the buildings occupants. With basket fans arranged in this way, it is the indirect, or induced airflow that provides the cooling effect felt by the building occupants.
